I’ve been able to explore a lot. I’ve visited Onomichi, stopped by Tokyo, explored Kyoto with friends, gone to Nagoya, seen Osaka. But not until last weekend did I go to the largest city of my own prefecture, Hiroshima.
Hiroshima is the city we all know as the target of the 1945 atomic bombing by the United States. This city is now the site of Peace Memorial Park and reminds us as the world’s charred past but stands for a united future.
Miyajima is a beautiful small island near the city of Hiroshima. I’m really glad I got to visit it, and I hope to go back again. Please enjoy these pictures from our trip!

This is A-bomb dome. The atomic bomb of 1945 hit almost directly above this building. Everyone inside instantly died but some of the center walls remained. The blast left enough of the iron frame, allowing the building to still be recognizable as a dome.
They did a really great job at making Peace Memorial Park peaceful, but I didn’t capture it well enough on camera.
